Gangwon Forestry Exhibition 2023

The Gangwon Forestry Exhibition was held from Sept. 22 to Oct. 22, 2023.

It aimed to further Gangwon’s presence by combining peace with the history, culture, life, and ecology of forests,

which account for 63 percent of the nation’s land area and 80 percent of Gangwon.

There were plenty of events to enjoy like forest-related exhibitions, academic events, cultural performances,

and hands-on activities like a natural dyeing experience, pinecone wreath making, low-carbon upcycling crafts, and more.

Sections within the exhibition included a forest protection project, forest peace center, cultural heritage center,

recreational healing center, and industrial exchange center,

all which helped start conversations and got people thinking about forest preservation.

This was one of the unique structures in the expo area.

It is a 45m high pinecone-shaped observatory (and slide!) with a panoramic view of

Seoraksan Mountain, Ulsan Rock, and the East Sea.

We really enjoyed this year’s Forestry Expo and can’t wait to see what they do next!
