Let’s enjoy a different day by visiting neighboring Gimpo~

As part of our Friendly DMZ trips, the tour is starting by a visit to Aegibong Peace Park.

The park was built to accompany the observatory that looks towards North Korea after the Korean war. The old observatory was established in 1978, but has since been demolished and placed on the Aegibong Peak.

The reason for the change came from the legend from which the peak receives its name.

When the second Manchu invasion of Korea broke out, the ruler of Pyeongan was chased down to the Jogang river with his love Aegi. But the ruler was caught and Aegi was left to cross the river alone.

Aegi never lost hope that she could see again her loved one so she waited every day a top of the peak until the day she died. Even after death, she did not leave her spot, as she requested to be buried standing on the peak so she could look at her love.

The then current President heard the legend and was left very moved, feeling that Aegi’s deep sorrow was just like the 10 million separated Korean families felt because they can’t meet their families, being only divided by a river. He even requested a stone monument with the title Aegibong Peak in his handwriting that you can see on the trip.

The second stop of the trip is the Gimpo Marine Park.

The main attraction of the park is the war boat that you can hop on and explore.

The Unbong LST was built in 1944 and was used in several occasions, like the Southern France landing in 1944, Okinawa landing in 1945.

It was even used in the Vietnamese War seven times, before being retired in 2006.

The park also has a fountain, outdoor stage and exhibition area you can visit and enjoy the view of the sea at.

The last stop is colorful La Veniche~

This place gets it’s name from Venice, and you can understand why when you see the boats floating around the canal.

This place was also used as the filming location of several dramas like King the Land (2023); Divorce Attorney Shin (2023); Young Lady and Gentleman (2021-22); Second Husband (2021); Tale of the Nine Tailed (2020) and more!

So how about coming with us for a friendly DMZ tour to these places?
